Enter the Truck Driving Field

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

To All Concerned Parties Affected By Layoff, Business Shutdown, and other Economic Conditions:

I certainly understand the concern and upheaval your layoff can cause you and your family.

I am here to let you know that once the initial shock is over and the frustration gives way to a new vision of the future possibilities this change can provide through your access to Dislocated Worker Training Money and other funding sources in place to assist you with obtaining a new career, the transportation field is growing nationally.

In addition, the Federal and State departments of Transportation and Homeland Security are developing the new East Coast Transportation Corridor with the northern most hub being at Rickenbacker (southeast corner of Columbus, Ohio) and stretching through West Virginia, Virginia, and down to Florida. This Corridor will allow for the more efficient flow of goods including those from overseas with import-export trade zones and more. Included will be trucking, intermodel, rail, air, and other transportation options.

I mention this to you because this build-out, going on now as we speak, will require more workers. Truck Drivers and their associated Preventative Maintenance Mechanics will be gaining in demand as the days go by and the build-out moves further and further towards completion.

Truck Drivers can usually earn between $32,000 to $42,000 first year and $50,000 to $80,000 second year depending upon company and other responsibilities you choose to accept as a semi driver. Opportunities also exist for Dump Truck and Road Construction Drivers to participate in the Economic Stimulus Package portion aimed at building roads and bridges across America. Within all of these opportunities exist the behind the scenes Preventative Maintenance Mechanics that keep those rigs rolling.

I would like to invite you to check out Truck Driving or Preventative Maintenance Mechanic as a new career option for you!

Not only are the needs great but the training for your CDL (Commercial Drivers License) is only 3 weeks and the Preventative Maintenance Mechanic is an additional 4 weeks, then you pass your test, and you are out making money!

Also note, for responsible individuals that qualify, the opportunity to purchase your own truck and run your own business is another option that I would be delighted to discuss with you.

BABY BOOMERS ARE CHANGING DIRECTION

Friday, May 30th, 2008

BABY BOOMERS ARE CHANGING DIRECTION

Baby Boomers are changing direction from climbing the corporate ladder and dealing with all the stress and life restrictions typically associated with higher level jobs to the new way of thinking, of following your heart and having a job with a purpose, meaning, something that works to better the lives of many or change the world. This is not just some fantasy dream world that is all fluff, this is real for many Boomers that have had it with the corporate downsizing and company politics.

Overheard on the way to the top – “You know the problem with the rat race? Even when you win, you are still a rat!”

Boomers are moving into non-profit and not-for-profit organizations that are aimed at making a difference. Positions that really strive to change the world or at least their little corner of it.

Boomers are moving out at a high rate of speed, too. Given that the U.S. companies laid off, downsized, or outsourced (your choice of politically correct terms) nearly 3.5 million jobs in the past several years and that some of the statisticians are still predicting another 7 million employees to be “on the street” before this whole recession / job shift thing is over.

It is time you re-thought your future… before someone else does it for you!

If you are like many Boomers, you have a little saved up, you have some equity, you have some investments that you could tap and make the future take shape in a way that would be more pleasing to your happiness, your success, your life’s purpose.

This could be contributing your time, talent, and energies to a non-profit or not-for-profit. This could also be starting your own organization, your own business… one aimed at achieving those issues you have seen in the world that are near and dear to your heart. Those issues, that you don’t understand why someone else has not yet addressed them through some outreach or civic group. Those issues, name them - that are waiting on you… you, specifically.

Think about it. Life is speeding up.

When you were 16 and a year went by, that was only 1/16th of your life… not a big deal. (Truth is, time went so slow then…) But as you get older, that same year is 1/30th of your life, 1/40th, 1/50th – note the progression as time seems to get compressed and we seem to feel like we are moving through those years faster. The “burn rate” of time becomes so amazing that we almost can’t turn around and here is another birthday, another year end, another milestone flying by.

It is time you made some changes. It is time you re-adjust the trajectory of the rocket ship of purpose that we are all riding. You know, those “someday I will do…” Well, they are all catching up with us and as “someday” becomes “today” our habit of doing the same old, same old will have to change to accomplish our purpose. The alternative is to resign ourselves to saying “could’ve, would’ve, should’ve became couldn’t, wouldn’t…”

How do you want to be remembered? As the one that accomplished and made things happen? Or the one that missed it all and sadly passed not having tried?

Let’s talk about your future… Now! Contact: Eddie@EddiePowell.com

“Stuck in a rut…”

“That’s not how we do it around here…”

                                                                             “I can’t do that because…”

Does this sound like your conversations you have with yourself? Maybe it’s time for you to begin a “Career Overhaul”?

Habits, Point-of-View, and Single-Minded Thinking can slow you down, destroy creativity, and push you further and further behind in the global marketplace. In today’s world, if you can’t innovate, can’t incorporate new thinking into your daily practices, then you’ve going backwards into extinction.

SHARED RESOURCE NETWORK, INC. TELEVISION

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

SHARED RESOURCE NETWORK, INC.

Focused on “jobs, careers, and hot opportunities in the marketplace!”

TELEVISION PROGRAM

Shared Resource Network, Inc. embarked upon a new adventure aimed at providing education and information to the job seeker marketplace via television.

The Shared Resource Network – Television Project launched five years ago in cooperation with Columbus, Ohio Channel 8, and sister television stations in Delaware, Marion, Kenton, and Ontario/Mansfield, Ohio. These five signals offer a potential viewing audience of nearly 1.7 Million people (U.S. Census).

CONCEPT

The Shared Resource Network is responsible for providing 30 minutes of television programming focused on “jobs, careers, and hot opportunities in the marketplace” each week.

PROGRAMMING

The Shared Resource Network is hosted by Eddie Powell, award winning marketer and U.S. Small Business Administration 2007 Journalist of the Year for Columbus, Ohio District and Region V (six state region headquartered in Chicago). The programming features guest appearances by individuals involved in the areas relating to employment including business owners / managers, human resource people, trainers, employment agencies, schools, government agencies, and more. Each program offers valuable tips, insights, and training nuggets important to the viewing public.

www.TheSRN.net is the affiliated website associated with the show and The Shared Resource Network, Inc. This site provides additional information, relevant support materials, and links to other sites of interest. An archive of former television shows is being developed to be made available to viewers. In addition, tools for employment, DVD sets of the programs, and other items aimed at viewer success will soon be ready for purchase.

An associated support site to The Shared Resource Network is www.GoldDuck.com. This site is a free quality posting of employment opportunities and a free resume bank easily searchable by employers in selecting candidates.

OPPORTUNITIES

Obviously, the immediate reach of potential viewers of nearly 1.7 Million in the five signal area is a tremendous opportunity.

In addition, the viewers of archived video via the www.TheSRN.net  website can multiply the potential exponentially of each show. Value added programming related to careers, businesses, and other important support materials will serve to increase the number of visits to the site.

Further, given the wide availability of DVD players and the many area training programs like P.E.T. programs, Job Clubs, and others along with the purchase of DVD’s by individual viewers, the potential to help individuals grows even further.

Not to be overlooked, many area churches and faith-based institutions also work in this area of sharing valuable job / employment information with their constituents further increasing the reach and impact of this programming as they either view live or via DVD at a later point in time.

Given today’s technology, it is also possible to uplink this program to a satellite for distribution to receivers all across the United States and other parts of the world or distribute via the internet on Google Video and other similar sites. This can then be downloaded for immediate viewing, or for distribution throughout the world.

Additional opportunities exist to “brand” various items and information for distribution to select crowds or to enhance the sponsors value to the community through underwriting, advertising, and other partnership opportunities involving endorsements, speaking engagements, trainings, and presentations via webinars, ebooks, and more.

Let’s talk… We welcome your discussions as to how we can work together to benefit our viewers, your audiences, and the world interested in “jobs, careers, and hot opportunities in the marketplace!”
